Driver Roster and Shifts

Driver Roster creates draft shifts using active drivers, shift availability, daily driver requirements, rest rules, leave, hours, and night-shift eligibility.

How weekly shift availability works

Rules -> Weekly Shift Availability is a daily required-driver count, not a percentage calculator. Enter the number of drivers required for every enabled shift/day.

Example: with four available drivers and a desired 50/50 split, set Morning Shift to 2 and Night Shift to 2 on that day. A 50% note or equal settings alone cannot override driver eligibility, leave, rest, or confirmed work.

Required setup for night shifts

  1. Open Driver Roster -> Rules -> Driver Settings.
  2. Tick Night Shift for each driver who may work night shifts, then save.
  3. In Weekly Shift Availability, enable Night Shift on the required weekdays.
  4. Enter the required count for Morning and Night shifts.
  5. Confirm enough eligible drivers are active in the selected department and not on leave/rest day.
  6. Run Auto Assign and review the created draft before confirming it.

When both day and night shift counts are configured, Fleetrix reserves night-eligible drivers for night requirements before using them in morning slots. Drivers not marked night-eligible are used for day assignments first where possible.

Auto assignment rules

Auto assignment checks:

  • selected department and active driver status;
  • enabled shift for the weekday and holiday configuration;
  • Driver Settings night-shift eligibility;
  • approved leave, rest day, time-bank overlap, and work-day limits;
  • existing confirmed shifts;
  • explicit weekly driver requirement counts;
  • fair rotation and weekly assignment counts.

The result is a draft. Review it, make manual corrections if required, then use Confirm Draft. A confirmed roster should be treated as operationally committed.

When night shift is empty

Check these in order:

  1. Night Shift is enabled for the selected day.
  2. Night slot count is greater than zero.
  3. The driver department selected for generation is correct.
  4. Enough drivers are marked Night Shift eligible.
  5. Those drivers are not on leave, rest day, over weekly limits, or already confirmed on another shift.
  6. The roster period/date is correct.

Roster and Planner

Roster governs staffing availability. Planner assigns actual order stops and service times. A rostered driver still needs a Planner assignment and Push to Apps before the Driver App receives an operational task.
